Version 2010 personal products: Upgrading from previous versions
Key to abbreviations:
- KIS – Kaspersky Internet Securityy
- KAV – Kaspersky Anti-Virus
Upgrading to Kaspersky Internet Security 2010:
If the product license is still active:
- Upgrading from KIS 7.0, KIS 2009 – the current activation code (key file) can be used to upgrade the product;
- Upgrading from KIS 6.0, KAV 6.0, KAV 7.0, KAV 2009 – the user needs to pay for license renewal (subject to a discount)
If the product license has expired:
If the license for KAV 2009, KIS 2009, KAV 7.0, KIS 7.0, KAV 6.0 or KIS 6.0 has already expired, the user must renew the license online (subject to a discount) or at a retail outlet to upgrade to KIS 2010.
Upgrading to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2010:
If the product license is still active:
- Upgrading from KAV 7.0, KAV 2009 – the current activation code (key file) can be used to upgrade the product;
- Upgrading from KAV 6.0, KIS 6.0, KIS 7.0, KIS 2009 – the user needs to pay for license renewal (subject to a discount).
If the product license has expired:
If the license for KAV 2009, KIS 2009, KAV 7.0, KIS 7.0, KAV 6.0 or KIS 6.0 has expired, the user must renew the license online (subject to a discount) or at a retail outlet to upgrade to KAV 2010.

How to Upgrade:
Kaspersky Lab personal products do not upgrade automatically after the release of a new version.
Upgrading to a newer version of the same product
Notes: The older version does not need to be uninstalled. Settings from the previous version will be lost.
Instructions:
- download the appropriate distribution kit (KIS 2010 or KAV 2010) and run the executable file
- follow the Installation Wizard instructions
- activate the product using your activation code or key file
- restart your computer
Upgrading to a different product
Note: the older version must first be uninstalled.
Instructions:
- download the appropriate distribution kit (KIS 2010 or KAV 2010)
- turn off KIS/KAV: right-click on the product icon in the lower right of the screen and select Exit in the pop-up menu
- uninstall KIS/KAV: click on the Start button – All Programs – Kaspersky Anti-Virus / Kaspersky Internet Security – Modify, Repair or Remove – click on Remove
- follow the Remove Wizard instructions
- restart your computer when the Remove Wizard is complete
- after the system reboots, run the executable file from the KIS/KAV 2010 distribution kit
- follow the Installation Wizard instructions
- activate the product using your activation code or key file
- restart your computer
